No. 235 - Mom Died IV

Something is irreparably broken

Melancholy sits in the air … an awful grayness

I am trying to outrun it … afraid of everything

Drum beats echo through my chest … a terrifying reverberation

An inoculation is happening … evil little droplets

My family is dying … just me and dad now

We’re living in the end of a movie we didn’t write

My only plan is to outrun it … DC to Boston to Austin

Listen to a sax in Marvin’s song … a dash of Bukowski for humor’s sake

Next week it’s DC to Nashville … then Austin and Jackson Hole

    And Chicago and Boston

With a weekend in Manhattan to get lost

in the Village … off the grid … south of Houston Street

A fruitless attempt to avoid the death
